Dr. Julia Sachseder is a Visiting Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Departments of International Relations and Gender Studies at the Central European University. Julia earned her Dr.Phil from the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna in 2020, exploring the intersections of transnational capital, gender and race in the production of political violence in Colombia’s armed conflict. Currently, Julia is leading the FWF-funded project "Risky Borders. Gender, Race and EU Border Security", in which she investigates epistemologies of risk, gender, race and border (in)security. Her research interests primarily involve the interplay between the political economy and coloniality in (border) security, migration, the environment and violence. She additionally focues on the role of private, non-state and corporate actors in peace and conflict.
